Two Peas in a Bucket, Haul - March 15, 2013

Don't you hate it when you place an order one day and then the next day, you get an email from Two Peas telling you that what you wanted is back in stock - so then you have to, HAVE TO, place another order before it sells out again.  Yep, that was me this week.  So, two orders...and here's the haul - though I must have been on drugs or completely sleep deprived when I ordered some of this stuff - take a look in the video:

(Layout 3 of 4 of the February 2013, Kill the Kit Series.  I subscribe to the Studio Calico scrapbooking kit and am determined to use up most of one kit before the next one arrives.)

I've had this St. Patrick's Day photo of WTK in my pile of "to be scrapped" for a long time.  Since I needed to find a way to use the green paper that I didn't like, I decided what better way to use green than with a St. Patrick's Day photo.

Stew is constantly making me laugh.  On one of our first trips to St. Michael's, we went to the Maritime museum and they had this sign for "duck" - Stew did what the sign said he should, he ducked.  Crazy guy.

KTK, February 2013, Layout: He's Not Heavy, He's My Brother

(Layout 1 of 4 in the February 2013 Kill The Kit Series)

You'd never believe the day that occurred before this picture was taken.  EAP had written in SMP's Doc McStuffins diagnostic notebook and Ms. SMP was anything but pleased with him.  She talked about how she never wanted a brother, that brothers were the worst thing ever, and how she wanted to come home with me and leave EAP behind.

Then you turn around a few hours later and she's picking him up and hugging him.  So indicative of the brother/sister dynamic.

New Series, Kill The Kit (KTK), February 2013, What are we Working With (WRWWW)

I just recently subscribed to the Studio Calico scrapbooking kit.  In the past, when I've had subscriptions to kits, I've allowed the kits to pile up in an area of my scraproom never to be seen or heard from again.  I'm determined to not let this happen, so on Thursday, when I got the notification that my kit for March was going to be delivered that day, I decided I needed to have a marathon scrapping session to use up the February kit and thus, Kill The Kit was born.  I intend to do this every month and we'll see how it goes.

In the video below you can see what I had left as I started my marathon scrapping session.  In the next few posts, I'll be sharing all of the layouts I made during this session and I'll finish up with a video of what's left.

Hope this inspires you to get those kits out of their boxes and into your books.

Kelly sent me these pictures of CEH in the mail.  I love that middle one with the heart on her head.  It's so indicative of her personality.

LOAD, 213, Day 28: My Place

Today's challenge was to scrap about your secret place.  The place you go to get away from the world and re-charge.  I don't find that in any physical location, but rather, I escape into different worlds through the books that I read.  My father-in-law took this picture of me while we were down at Long Beach Island for vacation in the Fall of 2011.  I spend a lot of my time down there relaxing and reading and he captured this candid shot of me doing just that.  At first, I wanted to strangle him, I look terrible in this picture, but then I was thankful that he caught this memory on film.  And with that, LOAD 213 comes to a close.  I've very much enjoyed the challenges and love the stack of layouts that I have done.  It wasn't a perfect month.  I didn't do a layout every single day but I did explore digital scrapbooking for when I'm on the road, I did pull out my sewing machine and learn a little bit more about it and I scrapped a bunch of stories that were waiting to be told.  I'll call that a success.

Next LOAD happens during May 2013.  Right now I'm undecided if I'm going to participate just because my work schedule is going to get much busier over the next couple of months.  Either way, the posting on this blog will go back to its regular schedule:  Monday: Project Life; Wednesday: Layout; Friday: Process Video and starting next week, there will be a weekly contest.  Stay tuned for that.

LOAD, 213, Day 27, Hop To Fun

Today's challenge was to "Read the Manual," meaning to learn something new.  I've always wanted to incorporate sewing on my pages but am intimidated by the sewing machine.  I thought this challenge was a good opportunity to pull it out and get some use of it.

LOAD, 213, Day 26, Winner

Today's prompt was to scrap about a family made holiday.  Well, Stew's family has certainly turned the Super Bowl into a holiday.  There's good food, awesome commentary on the game and the commercials and even some friendly (or not so friendly) competition.  This year, I won the question game and got my very own championship football.  I mean, I beat guys who have 15 to 20 fantasy football teams and it wasn't even close.  It was a blow out!!!!  I'm not bragging or anything, oh no, not me!

LOAD, 213, Day 25, Our To-Do Bucket List

The challenge for today was to scrap about your bucket list.  There was no way I could fit everything we want to do onto one layout, so I just picked a few things and made a quick and easy layout using a digital design kit.

The kit is from Zoe Pearn Designs at Sweet Shoppe.  It's called Something Pretty and it's free.

You can find the kit here.

I still have a lot to learn as far as digital scrapbooking is concerned - but using a kit makes it very easy.

LOAD, 213, Day 24: Sharing of the Force

Today's challenge was to scrap something you've been saving.  I've had this Star Wars paper in my stash for a long time.  I thought it would be a great time to pull it out and scrap about my nephew coming up to the house to watch the movies with his uncle.

In this situation, the background paper really does the majority of the work on this layout.  Making the layout easy to put together and quick, too!

LOAD, 213, Day 23, I'm One of a Kind

The prompt today was to scrapbook a layout that is all you.  One of the things I love about scrapbooking is shopping (don't we all!); however, I'm not always looking for the latest and greatest.  I love a great deal.  To scrapbook a page that is all me, means to use a combination of the old and the new and make a layout that appeals to me even if it doesn't follow the hottest trends.
