Layout Share: Six

I knew that in order to capture all of the things I wanted to for the celebration of WTK's birthday, I would have to include a lot of pictures.  When that happens, I rely on my tried and true photo collage templates that I purchased from Kerri Bradford.  This is the best way I've found to include a multitude of photos.  In going through the thumbnails of the photos I had from this event, I picked five photos.  Unfortunately, at normal size one of the photos was too blurry and must have been taken in between a yawn and something else, cause, let's just say that wasn't an expression WTK would want captured for all of eternity.  So, I played with the template a bit and decided to cut off the photo that should have stretched horizontally along the bottom under the other three pictures.

Once I had my collage developed and printed, it was scrapping time.  My favorite part.  The background number symbol or hashtag paper was included in a kit.  It's from My Mind's Eye, It's Presh, "Right Now" Hashtag paper.   I more saw it as a number symbol than a hashtag because truth be told, I don't really understand the whole hashtag thing.  As WTK was celebrating a birthday, I thought the number symbol worked.

The six design I used for the title is an available cut in the Silhouette store.  I make most of my cuts on white cardstock from American Crafts and this was no exception.  I then used Adirondack Color Wash spray in Denim to make the die cut the color I wanted.

I struggled a bit with where to put that die cut.  It didn't look right just layered over the photo, so I took a piece of orange scrap, adhered it to that and then layered it over the photo.  There are three embellishment clusters that form the visual triangle around the photo and the colors I felt balanced from the top and the bottom of the layout.  Due to all the very linear cuts, the rectangles and squares, I thought it was really important to bring in other shapes; therefore, I used circles, scalloped borders and that top note design to soften the layout.  I find that this is particularly important when using one of the photo collages as the collage itself adds many 90 degree angles to the layout.

There was no video for this layout as I finished it without turning on the camera.
